Connect With K-12 Educators - Offer Summer Professional Development Courses

Course proposals due Saturday, February 17.

We invite individuals from all NDSU departments to connect with K-12 teachers statewide by offering professional development classes in your field or expertise. Share what you know so K-12 teachers can use the understanding, skills, and applications in the classroom tomorrow. Compensation for instructors of professional development courses varies. (Think of this as a way to earn a little fun money.)

A few things to know about K-12 Professional Development (PD) classes:

  • All North Dakota licensed educators are required to take graduate-level professional development classes to maintain their teaching license.
  • K-12 PD is required to be listed on a university transcript. This is true for all North Dakota teachers and often is a requirement for pay scale increases for teachers in other states.
  • Most classes are one credit.
  • Classes vary in length from a one or two day conference to a full-semester, you get to choose your course start and end dates. (As long as 15 semester hours per credit are met.)
  • You get to meet some really awesome educators from across the state and nation.

All high-quality, relevant, graduate-level professional development classes that are approved by NDSU's Distance and Continuing Education program are published in our annual summer course catalog, which is mailed to all North Dakota schools around April 15.

Contact Dr. Stacy Duffield to discuss offering summer courses.
