Message to CAFSNR Chairs, Heads and Directors on January 9, 2026

Heads, Chairs, and Directors,

As you move into 2026 and begin conducting annual faculty performance evaluations, please review the attached reminder document. It is intended to provide a framework for annual review conversations and to help guide discussions related to the core missions of the land-grant university.

One additional request, if you are not already doing so, is to include a designated section at the end of the evaluation for an overall assessment, such as the example below:

Chair/Head/Director Overall Comments:
[ ] Met expectations
[ ] Did not meet expectations

Our goal is to have the majority of the faculty evaluations completed by February 13, though we recognize that some may extend into March.

Also, it is strongly encouraged that evaluations be completed electronically via DocuSign.

Signature Line Guidance

1. In addition to the candidate and chair/head/director, the document must include signature lines for the appropriate Associate Dean or Director(s), as applicable:
   1. Dr. Frank Casey – Associate Director, North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (Research appointments)
   2. Dr. Lynette Flage – Associate Director, NDSU Extension (Extension appointments)
   3. Dr. Carrie Hammer – Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources (Teaching appointments)
   4. Dr. Greg Lardy – Joe and Norma Peltier Vice President for NDSU Agriculture (include on all reviews)
2. When using DocuSign, please ensure a final copy of the completed review is received by the following:
   1. Candidate
   2. Head/Chair/Director
   3. Appropriate administrators
   4. Cherie Fischer, Ag Budget Office cherie.fischer@ndsu.edu
   5. Kris Holt, Ag Budget Office kris.holt@ndsu.edu
   6. Janelle Quam, Office of the VP for Agriculture janelle.quam@ndsu.edu
   7. Department-level administrative assistant, coordinator, or other individual needing a copy (optional)
