Table of Contents
The Table of Contents is a required section that lists the headings that appear in the disquisition and the page number for finding them. We recommend using an automatically generated table of contents in Word, which can be inserted from the References tab -> Table of Contents -> Custom Table of Contents menu.

Quick Answers
Issue: Broken Table of Contents
If you break your table of contents, you can create a new one from the References -> Table of Contents -> Custom Table of Contents menu. In the table of contents creation dialog box, select only the styles for subheadings you wish to include in your TOC. For documents with numbered headings, the default is NDSU 0, 1.1, and 1.1.1; for documents without numbered headings, the default is NDSU 0, 1, and 2. Do not include the styles for unlisted headings. If prompted to replace the current TOC, select yes.
