As a general rule, only those individuals that pay the student health portion of the student fees should be granted access. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as putting individuals in categories and then deciding, by category, if they are or are not paying the student health fees. The situation/determination can be as unique as the individual.
Virtually everybody pays the mandatory student fees. A few possible exceptions are below:
- Employees receiving a waiver
- Individuals auditing classes
- TCU (tri-college university)
NDSU employees receiving a waiver pay only the NDSU Technology Fee and the ND University System Fees. As a result, they do not have access to the Student Health Service clinic and pharmacy because they are not paying the student health portion of the student fees. Please note that just because someone is an employee, that does not mean they couldn't possibly be eligible to access Student Health. The employee may, for example, receive a waiver for one class but pay for two others out of pocket (and be paying all of the fees). Also, spouses and dependents do pay all of the student fees; only the tuition is waived. As a result, they do have access to the clinic and pharmacy.
Student Health Service is funded by a health fee included with tuition for full-time students each semester (pro-rated for part-time students). A break down of the cost of the student fees is available through the NDSU One Stop website. The student fee provides operational and personnel funding which includes, but is not limited to, salaries, benefits, programs and services that promote student health and wellness.
Students who are not enrolled for the current semester but are needing a re-check appointment from a previous Student Health Service appointment may schedule a follow up visit to see their provider within 30 days of the end of that semester. This includes students who may have graduated or who are not enrolled for the following semester. Students must call to schedule these appointments.

NOTE: This does not apply for "new" visits. It must be a re-check from an existing appointment reason that the student has been seen for within the previous semester.
Students who are not enrolled for summer semester but were enrolled in the previous spring semester AND are enrolled in the following fall semester are eligible to utilize the clinic during the summer. Students will need to call our office so our staff is able to verify enrollment before a student will be marked as eligible for services.
