Fitness 101

This workshop will bring you onto the weight room floor while the building is closed, giving you a chance to learn about strength exercises and machines, practice proper techniques, and build confidence in using the Wellness Center’s equipment. You’ll also take part in a 20-minute yoga session and a 20-minute cycle session to sample a few of the group fitness classes we offer and meet some of our friendly instructors. We’ll wrap up the event with light snacks and a chance to ask questions or explore more equipment.

StrongHer: Empowerment Through Weights

This three-week women’s workshop is designed to help gain experience in strength training safely and confidently. Be part of a community of strong, inspired women while learning the mechanics of squat, bench and deadlifts, safety considerations, and gain hands-on practice. Although this program is designed for women, all are welcome to register and participate.

Lift Off: Basics to Beginning

Gain strength from the ground up! Start your journey in weightlifting while focusing on the fundamentals.

ACE Personal Trainer Class

Become a certified Personal Trainer! Learn the ins and outs of being a Personal Trainer while preparing to take the ACE Personal Trainer Exam and begin training with this eight week non-credit course.

Date: Beginning the week of Oct 6. Classes scheduled around participants.

Cost: $500 (price includes text book, study book, practice test, and exam fee)

Candlelight Yoga

Flow in the gentle glow of candlelight. This all-level yoga class is designed to help you relax and decrease stress while developing strength, focus and flexibility. Join us on select Sunday nights to help prepare for the week ahead. Practice self-care and self-love while taking time for yourself.

Sept. 7 & Oct. 5 classes are held in Wellness Center Studio B.
Aug. 31, Sept. 28, Oct. 19, Nov. 16 & Dec. 7 classes are held at Cater Hall

Wellness Center Challenges

Build or continue healthy habits this Spring! Write your name on the Challenge Leaderboards located throughout the Wellness Center and start recording your movement minutes, distances and program participation.

September: Record increments of 15 or 30 minutes of physical activity on the tracker on first floor, reach the goal for the month (150 minutes per week), and be entered to win prizes.

October: Record your GroupFIT class attendance on the tracker on first floor. If you make it to 12 classes for the month, you will be entered to win prizes.

November: Accumulate 90km of biking, 13.1 miles of running, and 20,000 meters of rowing to complete the DriTri and be entered to win prizes.

Cardio Workshop

The Cardio Equipment Workshop is a hands-on session led by a certified Personal Trainer to help you confidently use a variety of cardio machines. You'll learn proper form, key features, and how to tailor workouts to your goals. Perfect for all fitness levels, this workshop gives you the tools to get the most out of your cardio routine. By the end of the session, attendees will be more confident using cardio machines effectively and will have a deeper understanding of how to incorporate them into their fitness routines.
