Fitness 101

This workshop will bring you onto the weight room floor while the building is closed, giving you a chance to learn about strength exercises and machines, practice proper techniques, and build confidence in using the Wellness Center’s equipment. You’ll also take part in a 20-minute yoga session and a 20-minute cycle session to sample a few of the group fitness classes we offer and meet some of our friendly instructors. We’ll wrap up the event with light snacks and a chance to ask questions or explore more equipment.

Candlelight Yoga

Flow in the gentle glow of candlelight. This all-level yoga class is designed to help you relax and decrease stress while developing strength, focus and flexibility. Join us on select Sunday nights to help prepare for the week ahead. Practice self-care and self-love while taking time for yourself.

Feb. 8 & April 12 classes are held in Wellness Center Studio B.
Jan. 25, Feb. 22, March 22 & April 19 classes are held at Cater Hall

Indoor Triathlon

Want to try a tri? Unlike a traditional triathlon, which covers fixed distances of swimming, biking, and running, our indoor triathlon will challenge you to go the greatest distance in a fixed amount of time. Beginners and seasoned athletes are invited to participate in the 10-minute swim in the lap pool, 30-minute bike in the Cycle Studio, and 20-minute treadmill run!

Time: Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m., event starts at 9:00 a.m.

Cost: $30

Registration: Opens Dec. 20 and closes April 9 at 4:00 p.m.

Defy Gravity Deadlift Challenge

Get ready to lift your limits and defy the ordinary! Welcome to the Defy Gravity Deadlift Challenge, a high-energy, strength-celebration event happening this April. Lifters of all levels are invited to test how far they can pull the bar. Whether you’re chasing a personal record, going for the heaviest pull, or just want to join the party, this event is for you. We’ll start at a modest weight and keep raising it—whoever stays standing the longest wins bragging rights (and more!).

Wellness Center Challenges

Build or continue healthy habits all semester! Write your name on the Challenge Leaderboards located throughout the Wellness Center and start recording your movement minutes, distances and program participation.

February: It's time to warm up with the BRR Challenge. Bike 3 miles on an indoor bike, Row 2000 meters on the row machine, and Run 1 mile on the treadmill. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

March: Record your GroupFIT class attendance on the tracker on first floor. If you make it to 12 classes for the month, you will be entered to win prizes.

April: Record increments of 15 or 30 minutes of physical activity on the tracker on first floor. Be entered to win prizes if you complete 150 minutes per week!
