Diplomas

Information printed on a diploma

  • Degree Type
  • Honors Earned

*The diploma measures 8 1/2 x 11 and does not include major(s), minor(s) or options. Major(s), minor(s) or options are printed on transcripts.

Mailing Address

Diplomas are mailed to the student's 'mailing' address listed in Campus Connection. Should a diploma be returned for an insufficient address, the Office of Registration and Records makes every attempt to obtain an updated address. When an updated address is not available, it is held in the Office of Registration and Records for one year, after which time a student will need to order a diploma replacement.

Mailing Timeline

Diplomas are mailed approximately 4-6 weeks following the close of the semester in which graduation requirements have been completed. Contact Parchment.com for diplomas damaged in delivery.

Digital Diploma

In addition to the traditional paper diploma, graduates will receive an email and text notification with instructions for electronically claiming their digital diploma. Check NDSU email and text message for the notification and follow instructions provided.

  • Within 72 hours of email/text notification, students should confirm the paper diploma mailing address
  • Add an additional email address so that students have access to the digital diploma after the NDSU email address has expired. An instructional video—How to Merge Learner Accounts and Credentials—will guide students through the process.

Parchment ‘Quick Bytes’ videos are available for assistance as well as a chat option at Parchment.com.

Replacement/Duplicate Diploma

If a duplicate or replacement diploma is needed, orders will be placed at Parchment.com. An instructional video is available—Ordering a Replacement Diploma.

A diploma replacement service is provided by the Office of Registration and Records for individuals who need to replace a lost or destroyed diploma or may need an additional diploma. The replacement cost is $35.

Replacement diplomas are printed with the current template and administrators' signatures. Information printed on a diploma includes the preferred name on file, degree type, honors earned and conferral dates. As such, replacement or additional diplomas may not be an exact duplicate of the diploma originally issued. In addition to the traditional paper diploma, individuals will receive an email and text notification with instructions for electronically claiming a digital diploma.

Should a diploma be returned for an insufficient address, the Office of Registration and Records makes every attempt to obtain an updated address. When an updated address is not available, it is held in the Office of Registration and Records for one year, after which time a student will request a diploma replacement.

Please note: A diploma cannot be issued if you have a Past Due Balance or Student Finance Global hold on your account.
