Financial Aid Offer

It is important to understand your financial aid offer when planning how to finance your college education. A financial aid offer details your estimated financial aid (grants and scholarship or “gift aid”, federal direct loans, private loans, work-study), estimated direct costs (tuition, mandatory fees, housing and meals, books and supplies), estimated indirect costs (transportation and miscellaneous expenses) and other key financial aid related information for students. Financial aid offers are also referred to as a financial aid package, financial aid letters or awards, and award notifications. You can find a glossary of common terms for financial aid by visiting the studentaid.gov website.

For incoming freshmen, a financial aid offer letter will be mailed to your home address and will be available on your Campus Connection account in mid-March. For returning students, an award notice notification will be emailed to your NDSU email account and will be available on your Campus Connection account by mid-June. All students can view their financial aid information on their Campus Connection student account.

Receiving a financial aid offer is not the final step of the financial aid process. You will need to take additional steps, outlined below, to accept, decline, or revise your financial aid offers in Campus Connection and to make sure you remain eligible for the aid that is offered to you.
