From Skill-Building to Statewide Change: How NDSU Extension Leadership Programs Change Lives and Communities
Overview
NDSU Extension Leadership and Civic Engagement (LCE) programs are designed to strengthen individual leadership capacity and translate that growth into measurable community action across North Dakota. This page summarizes findings from a statewide evaluation examining how leadership education contributes to civic participation, community planning, and policy involvement, particularly in rural communities.
The results demonstrate that leadership development delivered through Extension is associated with stronger skills, greater civic confidence, and higher levels of engagement in community and organizational decision-making. These findings provide evidence to inform public investment decisions, program design, and long-term workforce and community development strategies.
