Meadow Garden
The meadow garden consists of grasses and forbs native to the prairies of the upper Great Plains. Native grasses include Schizachyrium scoparium (little bluestem), Sporobolus heterolepis (prairie dropseed), and Stipa (needle grass). Flowering forbs include Geum triflorum (prairie smoke), Verbena hastata (blue vervain), Monarda fistulosa (bee balm), and different milkweeds. Weeds in the garden are managed using a combination of herbicides and burning.
