Infrared Thermometer

Text

NDSU Extension provides equipment and information to help homeowners assess areas of their homes that may need attention in order to reduce heating costs and make their homes more comfortable.

The common culprits that most people think of for air leakage are windows and doors, but air can leak into and out of the house through a variety of locations, energy experts warn; even insulation can allow air leakage.  Insulation types such as fiberglass are not air barriers, so air can pass through these materials easily.  An infrared thermometer can identify those heat loss areas.

Many NDSU Extension county offices have infrared thermometers that homeowners can check out to quickly identify places in their home where the outside cold is finding its way indoors.

Contact your county office for information on thermometer check out.
